Life as a business major

Hi All! I'm so excited because this week my family and I was discussing about my study plan. And soon I am declaring my minor in Textile and Apparel!

Right now I am actually a business major, double major in Accounting and Information System (Management). I am a typical business student fashionista because I like to dress up as class, but that is not to be discussed. I'm just done with two business exams today, three with yesterday, so I feel really good.

studying in the library

Somehow, I am starting to  like my accounting major because even though as I get further I don't get that many satisfying grades, I really love being challenged. Calculations and rules ... feel like making my brain younger!
Too bad I didn't take picture when I was in the study group... or studying for it.

My second major is kind of like programming but not really like 100% programming. I also learn business processes and how IT is related to business. Let me show you my homework that I just did!

 tadaaaa (result as usable application):

This major is kind of exciting for me. Honestly I love classes that are hands on! So I feel so cool in class and at least do something instead of only taking notes. Besides, I also got internship this past summer after completing my first class (Business Application Development I - about php). I created a couple of websites and it was quite an experience!

Apart from business major, though... I still manage to keep up with my hobby: fashion! If you haven't checked my blog yet you should! My fashion blog is more than a year old now... it is called etinology.com
And last semester I also took a class on fashion called creative textile and apparel, and this is what I did!

my creation got into UNI's annual fashion show! - the outfit is made out of rubber  bands and rulers

Canvas Mozaic Project inspired by my photograph

my sister from Tibet also helped me sew :p
during the process...

my sketch for the end of semester project! 25 sketches

Overall, life as a business student can get super challenging and exciting at once! You don't always think about money, investments, programming, or numbers.. You can always develop your hobby.
Sometimes I just smile when a profesor ask me what classes or majors am I taking because of what I wear or what I bring to class. It's my favorite thing!

Catherine

Where did my time go?

Where did it go? I remembered last week I just had halloween dance and now it's already friday again?
Today I went to school early to accompany my brother who had morning class, so I studied in the library. I saw a lot of tours today, apparently it is panther peek.
on monday, I dressed up as Cheerleader to classes :)

I forgot to tell you that I'm in International Student Promoters and Student Admission Ambassador (Campus Tour group), so I am pretty close to the Admission office on campus. I actually supposed to give campus tour today, I was so excited at about 9 am. Too bad there is no one in my list :( So I just went back and attended my class.

This week I have been pretty hectic facing my cost accounting exam. But overall was pretty good! I spent times studying in the library, meeting friends, and doing study group! Useful stuff for college students for sure! The highlight for this week I guess I got a special present from my roommate my first year at UNI (Hanan!) She wrote me a very sweet card about our friendship that has been more than 2 years old! Wow I can't stop worrying about how fast time goes... She gave me a very cute owl hat and a spooky cute little doll that can laugh like evil (hahaha)
gifts from besties - roomies, Hanan!

And as registration for new semester goes.... I just realized I am left with a little class only. Again, where did time go??? I am graduating in 3 semesters!! It's huge and I love school!! :(

Well, I guess I just need to really enjoy my times now! How is your school year go? Hopefully everything is fine. If I can give you an advise it will be: Enjoy life! :)

Love,
Catherine

The ISA weekend

I am just done with ISA meeting. This week has been a pretty busy one, but of course as a positive person, I think these experiences are the ones that have helped me to be 'the strong student', I mean learn many things and never get tired.
I really enjoyed the halloween dance we had last friday night. I was there from 2pm until 12am to start decorating until cleaning up. Super super fun, three words I can say. Ajay, Tenzing, Noel, Cally, Franchie, Sarah, Hanan, Ramya, Parimal, Shefei, Parash, Ivy, and Earnest helped for decorations and it was amazing to have a lot of friends helped you. I remember my first year in ISA I was doing photo booth decoration with YoonMi. This year, I am amazed with many people who helped me.

Dance went crazy, and my family was there. Honestly, the night was complete. And of course with our tradition the after party: Ippa night!

Yesterday I did concessions, It was great to learn how to deal with customers, because they never get enough. Some of them are nice, but some of them cannot understand some circumstances. I realized yesterday, I was quite friendly to consumers... I think I am a communication person *lol*
Bryant, our adviser actually helped the whole day. He was amazing, same with everyone who helped: Shefei, Tommy, Jason, Ajay, Ramya, Ivy, Parimal, Tenzing, Mehmet, and Parash. Everyone looked so funny as I could imagine that I would laugh that day. No problem, it is a lesson to work in a real world, right?

Today I have been spending time with family and study. I went to ISA meeting and drew international pumpkin on the board (the Chinese, Indian, and Saudi pumpkin). We talked for quite a while, but what always makes me happy is meeting people again. I hope time can freeze and just stay like that, be with friends.

Now I'm going back to study, I have cost accounting test on wednesday and four more exams on the next week(monday, tuesday, wednesday). Pray for me please.

Overall ISA weekend grade = A+!

Love,
Cathy.
